Job Purpose

The Congregational Experience Director is pivotal in creating an inviting, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for both first-time visitors and regular attendees. This role encompasses the visioning and execution of high-quality experiences during regular services and special events, ensuring that all attendees feel welcomed, valued, and connected to the church community.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership and Direction:
    • Provide overall direction for the Experience Team in alignment with the church’s vision and goals.
    • Schedule, organise, and lead regular briefings in preparation for weekly services, special events.
    • Cultivate a cohesive team dynamic and foster a spirit of unity, prayer, and commitment among team members.
    • Address any performance concerns in a constructive manner, offering guidance and support.
    • Identify, recruit, and mentor new members for the Experience Team.
    • Ideate and implement the continuous iterative improvement of the congregational experience.
  2. Ambience & Welcome Oversight:

    • Develop and implement strategies to create a welcoming and spiritually engaging atmosphere during services.
    • Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of the Ambience/Welcome Team.
    • Ensure that all church facilities are set up to promote a comfortable and conducive environment for worship and fellowship.
  3.  Event Management:

    • Lead the Event Management Team in planning, organising, and executing church events, ensuring they are memorable, impactful, and aligned with the church’s vision.
    • Coordinate with other church departments for logistics, resource allocation, and event promotions.
    • Manage post-event reviews, gathering feedback, and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
  4. Visitor Experience & Integration:
    • Design strategies to identify, welcome, and integrate first-time visitors, ensuring they feel connected and informed.
    • Work closely with other ministries to establish pathways for visitors to get involved and become active members of the congregation.
  5.  Budget Management:
    • Prepare and manage budgets for the Ambience/Welcome and Event Management Teams, ensuring resources are utilised effectively.
    • Collaborate with the finance department for budget tracking and financial reporting.
  6. Continuous Improvement & Feedback:
    • Regularly gather feedback from the congregation on their experience during services and events.
    • Implement strategies for continuous improvement, ensuring the church remains responsive to the evolving needs of the congregation.

Education

  • N/A

Experience

  • Experience in hospitality, event management, or a similar role, preferably within a church or nonprofit context.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration.
  • Proficient in using event management software and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
