Job Purpose

The Technical Director is instrumental in ensuring that the church delivers a seamless, high-quality technical experience in all its services, events, and online broadcasts. The role encompasses the visionary leadership and hands-on management of the Audio/Visual Production Unit, Live Streaming & Broadcasting Unit, and the In-Service Media Unit, ensuring technical excellence and facilitating effective communication of the church’s message.

Key Responsibilities

  1.  Leadership and Direction
    • Provide overall direction for the MediaTech Team in alignment with the church’s vision and goals.
    • Schedule, organise, and conduct regular technical rehearsals, training sessions, and team meetings in preparation for weekly services, special events.
    • Cultivate a cohesive team dynamic and foster a spirit of unity, prayer, and commitment among team members.
    • Address any performance concerns in a constructive manner, offering guidance and support..
    • Ideate and implement the continuous iterative improvement of the congregational experience.
    • Recruit, train, and mentor members of the three units, fostering a spirit of excellence and collaboration.
  2. Audio/Visual Production Oversight
    • Manage the production of all audio and visual content for church services and events.
    • Ensure the procurement, maintenance, and optimal use of all A/V equipment.
    • Collaborate with worship and speaker teams to ensure excellent sound and visual quality.
  3. Live Streaming & Broadcasting Management
    • Lead the team responsible for the streaming and broadcasting of services, ensuring a consistent, high-quality online experience for viewers.
    • Oversee the production, editing, and distribution of content across various online platforms.
    • Stay updated with the latest broadcasting technologies and trends, implementing best practices.
  4. In-Service Media Coordination
    • Oversee the creation and projection/display of all in-service media such as lyrics, sermon slides, announcements, and videos.
    • Collaborate with the worship and preaching teams to synchronise media with service flow.
    • Ensure redundancy plans are in place for smooth operations in case of technical hiccups.
  5. Budget & Resource Management
    • Develop and manage the budget for all technical departments, ensuring cost-effective utilisation of resources.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for equipment procurement, upgrades, and maintenance.
  6. Technical Innovation & Strategy
    • Introduce new technologies and methods to enhance the technical quality and delivery of services.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to align the technical strategy with the church’s overall vision and goals.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Degree in Media Production, Broadcast Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience

  • Experience in a technical/production leadership role, preferably in a church or live event context.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard A/V equipment, software, and live streaming platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues swiftly.
  • Excellent organisational and team management skills.
